Food
The crop protection industry plays an essential role in productive agriculture; supporting the cultivation of an abundant supply of safe food.
The European Crop Protection Association (ECPA) is committed to contributing to a healthy, high quality, affordable food supply for all by maintaining plant health, increasing plant productivity and improving farm practices. Open and transparent dialogue as well as the exchange of information between the crop protection industry and stakeholders is integral to the work of ECPA to ensure that consumers’ concerns are suitably addressed.
Through 4 focus areas which address food safety challenges by developing tangible measures that actively engage stakeholders across Europe, ECPA will demonstrate the contribution that pesticides make to food safety and the plentiful supply of healthy and affordable food.
Our projects
RESIDUES MANAGEMENT
This project aims to foster consumers’ trust in food safety by implementing concrete measures and actions to prevent Maximum Residue Level (MRL) exceedances. This will contribute to minimisation of pesticide residues, addressing consumer concerns through, amongst others, the transfer of best management practices across Europe.
MINOR USES
Together with stakeholders, we are working toward an EU Minor Uses Coordination Programme, to setting concrete measures to provide more minor uses solutions for farmers.
ANTI-COUNTERFEIT
To combat the increased occurrence of counterfeit & illegal pesticides appearing in Europe – and the threats that this implies – we are expanding our anti-counterfeit initiatives to all EU countries, in an effort to proactively raise awareness on the trafficking of counterfeit and illegal pesticide products.
TRAINING
Crop protection company Sales and Marketing staff will be offered training in order to raise awareness on relevant food safety issues.
